We have a table and chairs set on our back patio. The table has a metal frame with glass in it. It had a hole cut out in the middle for an umbrella. We left the umbrella in it one night and it stormed. The wind whipped it around so much that it busted the glass out. So then we were left with a metal frame and chairs. :(
We really like the chairs and hated to have to buy a new set so we came up with a different solution. My hubby bought some wood slats and made a box with some planks spaced out on the top.
I bought some crazy bright cans of spray paint to use. I wanted it to be bright and colorful since it was going to be outside on our back patio. A different color for each slat.
Here it is after I painted it and put 3 coats of polyurethane on it.
Here's the way it looks on the metal frame.
We've already had a meal on it - lasagna to be exact! :)
(ummmm, you can tell I practically licked my plate! ha ha)
It was super easy and didn't cost near as much money as if we'd bought a new set.
We're happy about the results and I've enjoyed sitting outside and surfing the internet too! :)
What all have you crafted this summer?
What a wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing!
