We are Scientists! and we have 2 Winners!

We Are Scientists!
We have been studying about the 5 senses.

Scientist with Big Magnifying Glass        Kid Scientist and Giant Magnifying Glass
We read several books about our 5 senses and then we put on our scientist goggles because they help us observe! (Who doesn't love wearing goggles?)

After talking about our sense of sight, we went on a nature walk.  I gave the children a page with alphabet boxes.  They were supposed to write all the things they saw on our walk.  If they observed grass, then they wrote it in the Gg box.

Really!?!? How cute are these scientists?

We used these super cute charts that hang in our science center.

We are winding down our 2nd full week of school.  I've will have had my precious firsties for 12 days tomorrow.  They've already come a long way and we have learned so much!  We are still working hard on class rules and procedures and just getting used to the routine of it all again!

Last week we talked a LOT about behavior and how we should act in the classroom.  We read all the "David" books and discussed the difference between being a "peacemaker" and a "peacebreaker".

Here we are making our "Davids":

50 cent garage sale find turns Monday Made It!

I'm linking up with Tara again for Monday Made It!

We decided to go hit some garage sales and estate sales this weekend (which we never really do).  I came across this little chair.

It reminded me of an old school chair.  I kinda walked by it at first but then came back to it and wondered of I could salvage it.  You can tell it was someone's paint chair and it had been outside for a VERY LONG time.  I thought I'd give it a try so I gave the 50 cents for this nasty little chair - cobwebs and all.  I brought it home and cleaned it with about a bajillion wipes and then spray painted it black.

The seat had some issues but I thought a little cushion would fix that problem.  I'm so happy with how it turned out!

We give out "PAW" awards at my school and they can turn them in occasionally for prizes.  One of the things they can "buy" is to sit in a special chair all day to do their work.  I think I will use this as their "special chair" this year!

Not too bad for 50 cents, spray paint, a cushion and some fabric!

Have a great week!
